Selecting Used Pontoon Boat Furniture

by Dave on March 20, 2010

If you have recently acquired a used pontoon boat, or are planning on refurbishing your boat then you are more than likely going to have to get some pontoon boat furniture. But when restoring this type of boat the first thing that you are going to want to do is make sure that the flooring is good shape, by either purchasing new carpet for the boat or reviving the ground work.

It all really depends on what kind of condition you are trying to restore the boat, you may have to get some used or new pontoon boat seats. Since there is more square footage on pontoon boats than other types of boats you almost have to treat it like it is a house. That is why there are many types of pontoon boat seats that are actually more comparable to wrap around couches that you will see in many households. The only downside to this when comparing it to couches and seats in your home is that pontoon boat seats are more expensive in almost every case.

There are some instances where you can get used pontoon boat seats anywhere from hundred dollars, up to the long seating that wraps around which can range up to a couple thousand bucks or more. Besides that couch like seating that is designed for pontoon boats there are also other seats that you can have for your pontoon boat, specifically the captains chair, which if it were my boat I would take the most pride in. These seats or chairs can range in price from under a hundred bucks up to the 500 dollar range if you want to get fancy with it.

If you like to fishing then you may want to look into getting pontoon boat seat that is designed for the fisherman. This can have features such as a swivel on the bottom of the seat so that you are able to spin around, or side rod holders, if you feel the need to bring more rods and reels along with you. Maximizing the value of your boat with pontoon boat furniture is a great way to restore value, or to enhance or customize the boat to your needs.

One thing that the captain cannot forget about besides the captains chair, is the console of the vessel. This is another area that I also consider to be pontoon boat furniture and this is where it can get fully customizable. You can have it set up to where you can have a stereo, cd speakers, gps, and of course a radio and walky talky in case of an emergency. The console is the heart of the boat, this is usually where the steering wheel, throttle, compass, and all of the gauges are located.

If you are searching for pontoon boat furniture because you are looking to redo the entire boat, from the pontoon boat seats to the center console, than there are many dealers that are out there that offer discount packages where you can get say 12 piece furniture set give or take. This would be the best way to go if you are trying to save money, and these days I know that every one out there needs every single penny that they can get. Just some thoughts and suggestions for those of you that are looking to buy some pontoon boat furniture.

I have a bass tracker pontoon with nothing but a nice home made console in light gray. Any one have a back sofa, driver seats and passenger seat. Or, does anyone have plans to make their own sofa? How about making a hardtop?
